Synthetic fibers are derived from petrochemicals and plastic. Whether synthetic or not most textiles are synthetically dyed and chemically treated with PFA'S (forever chemicals), formaldehyde, biocides, bisphenol A (BPA), Nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPE’S) and more in many instances.

Microfibers shed from any textile treated with PFA'S and these tiny particles enter your bloodstream by contact with your skin. They stay in your body forever and bioaccumulate. PFA’s have been linked to cancer, endocrine disruption, thyroid disease, birth defects, autoimmune disease, kidney dysfunction, infertility, DNA damage, and obesity. The chemicals from textiles that are absorbed through your skin have been linked to breast cancer, endocrine disorders, liver damage, and more.

 These particles can also enter waterways, soil systems, and ecosystems, contributing to widespread environmental contamination affecting aquatic life, biodiversity, and environmental health. Scientists continue to investigate their long-term effects on both human health and the natural world.
